By Car

If you decide to come to Florence by car, or rent a car, youy need to know that  the city center is ZTL ("Zona a Traffico Limitato" or Limited Traffic Zone), a restricted traffic area controlled by a network of video cameras.

The whole city center is restricted, but the Duomo area where the conference and its closest hotels are located is completely forbiddent to private cars. Furthermore, most of the Hotels do not have a garage or parking lots.

If you're staying in the center, you don’t need a car to move around, it is small enough to move around completely by foot or, at the most, on the small electric buses run by ATAF that cross the center.

Parking Areas: To find the car parking lot that is most convenient and suitable for your needs, look a useful map of parking lots in Florence.

If you have physical disability, all car parks in Florence have some dedicated parking spaces. These are marked with yellow lines and special signs. Parking is free of charge in these parking spots. If you don't find one available, you can also park for free in others spaces subject to payment (blue lines). In both cases, you need to have your permit with the disabled symbol displayed in your vehicle.
