Department Delegates and Representatives


Department Coordinator for VQR and FLORE: Prof. Lorenzo Ciani

The role includes:

  • coordination, in collaboration with the Steering and Self-Evaluation Committee (CIA), of activities related to the Research Quality Evaluation (VQR);
  • support for the management and updating of the Department’s scientific output within FLORE (FLOrence REsearch), the University of Florence’s institutional open-access repository.

 

 

Delegate for Communication  and Public Engagement: Prof. Dania Marabissi

The delegation includes:

  • representation within the University Communication and Public Engagement Committee;
  • promotion of the Department’s communication and public engagement activities;
  • enhancement of these activities in relation to University-wide programmes.

 

Delegate for Quality Assurance (QA): Prof. Piero Tesi

The Delegate supports the Department leadership in overseeing and coordinating Quality Assurance (QA) processes. The delegation includes:

  • promotion and coordination of QA activities;
  • support for the definition, monitoring, and review of improvement actions;
  • support in the preparation of key documentation related to QA processes;
  • coordination with departmental bodies, structures, and committees involved in self-evaluation processes, fostering the involvement of internal and external stakeholders.

 

Delegate for Buildings, Spaces, and Sustainability: Prof. Francesco Grasso

The delegation includes:

  • representation within the University Buildings Committee and interaction in the logistics management of inter-departmental spaces;
  • development of proposals for the management and enhancement of departmental facilities;
  • development of proposals aimed at improving the sustainability of departmental activities.

 

Delegate for Internationalization: Prof. Lorenzo Mucchi

The delegation includes:

  • strengthening and promoting the Department’s internationalization initiatives by fostering strategic collaborations with leading international academic and research institutions and encouraging student and staff mobility;
  • enhancement and integration of the Department’s international activities, ensuring alignment with University strategies and programmes, increasing visibility of results, and encouraging participation in European and international projects;
  • proposal and supervision of innovation and continuous improvement strategies to enhance the effectiveness of internationalization policies.

 

Delegate for Relations with the Order of Engineers of the Province of Florence: Prof. Leonardo Bocchi 

The delegation includes:

  • management of relations with the Order of Engineers of the Province of Florence, including matters related to State Examinations;
  • coordination of activities, projects, and initiatives of shared interest.

 

Department Coordinator for National and International Research and Relations with the Regional Brussels Office “TOUR4EU”: Prof.ssa Laura Carnevali

The role includes:

  • monitoring funding opportunities at national, European, and international levels and interaction with the University Research Services to support participation in competitive calls;
  • management of relations with the TOUR4EU Office for monitoring European policies and opportunities;
  • promotion and coordination of the Department’s national and international research activities and support for the development of strategic partnerships and research networks.

 

Department Coordinators for Technology Transfer: Prof. Marco Bertini e Prof. Lorenzo Ciani

The role includes:

  • promotion of technology transfer activities and enhancement of the Department’s research outputs, including patents, licences, spin-offs, and contract research;
  • support for academic staff and researchers in interactions with companies, public bodies, and the third sector for the dissemination of research results;
  • monitoring of technology transfer activities carried out within the Department;
  • promotion of University training programmes on technology transfer among students, fellows, doctoral candidates, postdoctoral researchers, technical-administrative staff, researchers, and faculty;
  • collection of training needs and awareness-raising requirements;
  • identification of strengths and weaknesses in University training programmes related to technology transfer.

Representative on the Library Management Committee: Prof. Stefano Maddio

The representation includes:

  • participation in defining the scientific policy guidelines of the Library and verifying their implementation;
  • participation in drafting proposals for the development of activities to be submitted to the Library Committee;
  • participation in identifying service priorities responding to users’ needs and verifying their implementation;
  • collaboration in defining criteria for the submission and acceptance of acquisition proposals;
  • collaboration in reviewing the annual expenditure plan;
  • participation in the annual approval of the Activity Programme and the final Report on Library activities.

 

Department Coordinator for International Rankings: Prof. Alessandro Piva

The role includes:

coordination of activities related to the collection, verification, and transmission of data required for the Department’s participation in international rankings, in coordination with the relevant University offices.
