Department Committees

The Department Committees support the Department’s governing bodies in the planning, coordination, and implementation of academic, research, and third-mission activities.
They carry out advisory and preparatory functions within their respective areas of competence and include the Steering and Self-Evaluation Committee, Research and Technology Transfer Committee, Teaching Committee,  Internationalization Committee, Communication and Public Engagement Committee, and Safety Committee.

Steering and Self-Evaluation Committee

The Steering and Self-Evaluation Committee is an internal advisory body of the Department with consultative and proposal functions.
Its role is to support the Department’s governing bodies in defining policies for the allocation of resources and in guiding scientific research, technology transfer, and innovation activities.

The members of the Steering and Self-Evaluation Committee of the Department of Information Engineering are appointed by the Department Council upon proposal of the Head of the Department, ensuring, as far as possible, balanced representation of the scientific disciplinary sectors within the Department.

Members serve a four-year term and may be reappointed only once consecutively.

Research and Technology Transfer Committee

The Research and Technology Transfer Committee promotes and supports the Department’s research activities and scientific production. It works to strengthen the quality and scope of the Department’s research and third-mission activities.

The Committee contributes to the definition and coordination of research structures and initiatives, including laboratories, research units, and strategic agreements, and supports the allocation of research funding and research grants. It also fosters relations with external partners and collaborates with other departmental committees and University administrative bodies on matters related to research, evaluation, and technology transfer.

Teaching Committee

The Teaching Committee carries out advisory and preparatory tasks in matters related to the design and planning of teaching activities.

It supports the Head of the Department in ensuring the effective functioning and coordination of teaching activities, in collaboration with the School of Engineering and the Chairs of the Degree Programmes.

Internationalization Committee

The Internationalization Committee promotes the internationalization of the Department by fostering new international agreements, expanding mobility programmes for academic staff, doctoral candidates, and students, and enhancing the Department’s visibility and attractiveness in Italy and abroad.

The Committee carries out preparatory activities in connection with the allocation of University funds dedicated to internationalization, on the basis of defined allocation criteria.

Prof. Lorenzo Mucchi serves as the Department’s contact person for Internationalization and International Cooperation at the University level.

Communication and Public Engagement Committee

The Communication and Public Engagement Committee coordinates the Department’s activities aimed at sharing academic education and research with civil society through a wide range of initiatives.

These activities are intended to generate benefits ranging from the development of new skills and the acquisition of new ideas to the improvement of research objectives and the promotion of forms of co-design.

Safety Committee

The Safety Committee supports the Head of the Department and laboratory managers in overseeing organizational and technical aspects related to safety in laboratories and workplaces.

It ensures continuous attention to safety matters, assists the Department leadership in the operational management of health and safety activities, and plays an advisory role in the allocation of budget resources dedicated to safety.
