The Head of the Department represents the Department and promotes and coordinates its institutional activities.
The Head of the Department is elected by the Department Council from among the full-time full professors affiliated with the Department, except in cases provided for by law. The Head is appointed by decree of the Rector, serves for a term of four academic years, and may be re-elected only once consecutively.
The Head of the Department may appoint, from among the members of the Council, a Deputy Head of the Department, who assists and replaces the Head in cases of absence or impediment.
Furthermore, the Head may delegate, also for a limited period of time, the performance of specific duties to members of the Council or of the Executive Board, informing the Council at its first subsequent meeting.
According to Article 5 of the University Regulations governing Departments, responsibility for supporting the departmental governing bodies, implementing their resolutions, and carrying out managerial and administrative activities lies with the Administrative Manager.
